We celebrate pupils’ achievements (in and outside of school) in our weekly celebration assembly each Friday.
Here are some of the awards we give in school:
Successful learner – children all have a learning wheel which identifies 8 learning behaviours/skills. When each of these has been noted 4 times by an adult, the child receives a certificate. This is one of our most highly valued awards as it has a significant impact on helping the children to become motivated, independent learners.
Golden book – a maximum of one child from each class is identified for showing a good attitude and is given a certificate in assembly. This award is given once per fortnight.
All stars – This is similar to the Golden book but is given for good work.
Housepoints – Children can be given Housepoints for anything positive (homework, trying to answer questions, being kind to someone, being honest, good manners etc). These are added to as the year progresses and children are awarded bronze, silver and gold certificates and badges as their total increases.
Headteacher’s heroes award– These will be given out at the end of every term for all pupils who have consistently given their very best In every aspect of school life e.g. motivated, respectful towards others, good mannered, reliable, put best effort into everything etc. Our hope would be that every child is able to receive this award at the end of each term. The main purpose for this award is to ensure that the children who quietly get on with everything, always trying their very best and demonstrating a very positive attitude, do not get overlooked.
Reading bus – The importance of reading at home every day cannot be overstated. All children who read at home and have their reading diary signed by a parent at least 3x per week will have their photo added to the reading bus in the hall at the end of every term. All children with their photo on the bus will be given 10 housepoints. They will also be put into a draw and one child from each year group will win a £5 voucher each term.
